Del Rio Host Lions Celebrate 80 Years of Service

March 15, 2008 the Del Rio Host Lions Club gathered with family members and friends to commemorate their 80th anniversary.  Keynote speaker Everett "Ebb" Grindstaff, Past International President of the International Association of Lions Clubs remunerated the accomplishments of the Host Lions Club during the past 80 years, and challenged the club continue its service.  Quoting Helen Keller, PIP Grindstaff called upon the Host Lions to continue to be "knights for the blind," and to expand their service to Del Rio.

Any Lion will be happy to accept your old eyeglasses for
recycling. Just bring your old eyeglasses with you to any Lions
event.

Each year, the Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center supplies
60-80 missions sponsored by church groups, physicians and
other organizations with eyeglasses. In addition to providing eyeglasses for under privileged children and adults in Texas, the center also supplies eyeglasses to distribution centers in the Republic of Ghana, Nigeria and Brazil.

The center organizes optical training teams composed of Lions,
doctors and opticians to work with Lions in developing countries.
