Develops programs and campaigns to attract new members. Reviews
membership applications and makes recommendations to the board of directors
on acceptance of new members. Conducts new member orientation.
Develops plans and programs to retain members.
Nominating Committee

Identifies and recruits members to run for club offices. Schedules
and conducts nomination meeting for the general membership not later than
the first club meeting in March.
Election Committee

Schedules and conducts election meeting of the general members not
later than the first club meeting in April. Prepares the official
ballots and oversees the election process. Counts the ballots and
reports the results to the general membership.
Greeter Committee

Greet all members and guests at club meetings and functions and ensure
everyone feels welcome.
FIRST VICE PRESIDENT COMMITTEES
Constitution and By-Laws Committee

This committee will review the Club Constitution and By-Laws to determine
if any changes are needed. The committee will report the results
of its review and recommended changes, if any, to the Board of the Directors.
All suggested changes received from the Board of Directors or general membership
to the Club Constitution and By-Laws will be referred to this committee
for review. The results of the review will be presented to the Board
of Directors with a recommendation as to whether the suggested changes
should be presented to the general membership to amend the Club constitution
and By-Laws.
Terminator Committee

Maintains, feeds and grooms the Terminator and other cooking equipment
of the club. Maintains and ensures chuck wagon is properly stocked.
Ensures wood is readily available for cooks and all equipment is in place
for cooks and sales conducted by the club. Assists the First Vice
President in assembling a cooking team for each project.
Social Services Committee

This committee will identify needs of the children’s shelter and family
violence center that are not being adequately met with the resources available
to these two agencies. The committee will provide the Board of Directors
a report and recommendations.
Public Relations Committee

Prepare press releases and obtain photos for publication. Seek
venues to publicize the activities of club. Arrange for placement
of paid advertising when approved by the Board of Directors.
Newsletter/Bulletin Committee

Prepares the club’s monthly newsletter with articles submitted by the
Officers and Board of Directors and other available sources.

Drug Awareness Committee

This committee will solicit participation in the District 2-A2 Drug
Awareness program and organize the club level competition to select a representative
for the District Convention. This committee will also develop programs
to fund the travel of the club’s representative to the District Convention.

Sight Conservation and Work with the Blind Committee

Conducts school eye screening program. Arranges for MESU visits
to Del Rio and ensures there are enough club members, including Spanish
speaking members, to man the MESU and conduct screenings. Reviews
requests by the club for support to obtain eye glasses for low income individuals.
Organizes projects to support “Stride for Sight.”
Hearing and Speech Action and Work with the Deaf Committee

This committee will investigate the need for support to the deaf and
hearing impaired community in Del Rio. They will also investigate
the need for support of speech pathology programs in Del Rio. The
committee will provide the Board of Directors a report and recommendations.
Peace Poster Committee

This committee manages the Lions International Peace Poster contest.
Working the art teachers in the locale school district, Comstock, private
schools and home schools to identify children meeting the age requirement
to compete and encouraging them to create an enter. This committee
judges, or appoints judges to select the winner and runners-up in the local
competition and ensures the local winning poster is submitted to District
2-A2 to meet the deadline for entries.
Leo Club Committee

This committee provides guidance/chaperone to the Del Rio Pride Leo
Club. Their function is not to lead the Del Rio Pride Leo Club, but
to teach and advise the Leos on how to lead their own club; including record
keeping, bookkeeping and other Leo Club functions. This is a young
club that is on the verge of being a totally self-lead organization.
The members of this committee are to nurture that growth and be prepared
to step back as the Leos step up.

Lions Information Committee

This committee researches Lions and club history for articles to be
placed in the club’s newsletter and website. This committee will
also stay abreast of events in the district and Lions International and
keep the membership informed. This committee will arrange/conduct
the program for the club meeting on the last Thursday of every month.
Hut and Storage Committee

This committee maintains the hut and the club’s storage facility at
our foundation. They will arrange hut rentals as appropriate.
This committee will ensure the storeroom at the hut is kept clean and properly
stocked. They will also ensure that the club’s storage facility at
our foundation is kept clean and out-of-date stock and unusable material
and equipment is disposed of. |
